In the novel Flash Forward, an event occurs that causes the consciousness of all humanity to "flash forward" twenty-one years into the future to experience events from the senses of their future self. The event lasted only two minutes, but after it ended, the widespread chaos it caused due to the mass unconsciousness was devastating.
